Jim Rettig is the University Librarian of the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Over his 30-plus years as a librarian he has served at the College of William and Mary, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Dayton, and Murray State University. He earned his MLS at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Jim also is immediate past-president of the American Library Association. He has been active in ALA for more than 30 years, holding various committee assignments and elected positions in several divisions. More information about Jim can be found at http://jimrettig.org.



Kitty Pope has been Executive Director of the Alliance Library System since January 2004. She earned her MA in Library Science from the University of Western Ontario. She has worked in a variety of library settings all over the world. In 2007, Ms. Pope was named the winner of the ALA/Information Today Library of the Future Award for her coordination of libraries in the virtual world in Second Life. She and co-worker Lee Logan were also winners of the ALA ASCLA Leadership Award in 2007 for the multitype library system certification program they developed.

Meredith Farkas is the Head of Instructional Initiatives at Norwich University in Vermont. She is also an adjunct faculty member at San Jose State University's School of Library and Information Science. Meredith is the author of the book "Social Software in Libraries: Building Collaboration, Communication and Community Online" (Information Today, 2007) and writes the monthly column "Technology in Practice" for American Libraries. A 2006 Library Journal Mover and Shaker, Meredith was recently honored with the 2009 LITA/Library Hi Tech award for Outstanding Communication in Library and Information Technology.

Morgan Cadwalader is the Human Resources Administrator for Alliance Library System. She has a juris doctorate degree from Marquette University Law School. Cadwalader is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Wisconsin. Before joining Alliance, Cadwalader practiced law advising businesses and employers on employment and labor law matters. She serves as the head of the Health and Safety Committee at Alliance. Cadwalader has presented workshops in the area of personnel and employment law matters.

Christi Confetti Higgins (Violet Portola in Second Life) has been a part of Sun Microsystems' global Digital Libraries & Research team for 13 years. She is passionate about working with people to get the information and connections they need to get their jobs done. She manages content evaluation, selection and deployment by creating strategic relationships with Sun's content partners and key Sun groups. She manages search and information discovery across key purchased and internal content and has integrated content into Sun's portals, wikis, blogs, social networks, virtual worlds, and microblogs. Christy also manages the group's communications and awareness channels, ensuring Sun employees are knowledgeable about the information services. Christy is an active member of SLA and the Rocky Mountain Chapter, lives in Colorado, and loves to bike, ski and spend time with her family.

Cindy Hill (Sydney Delphin in Second Life) is a Fellow and past president of SLA and a longtime and active member of the San Andreas and San Francisco chapters. She currently serves as the Chair for the SLA Virtual Worlds Council, advising the Board on the potential of virtual worlds in learning, collaboration and networking for its members. Cindy is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on the information profession, innovation, the impact of technology and its potential, trends and issues, and leadership and management topics. Cindy has worked as an information professional in a variety of industries including environmental, engineering consulting, and executive recruiting and high-technology. Cindy's two most recent positions include Vice President of Outsell's Information Management Service and prior to that, leading Sun's Digital Libraries & Research team. She has her own consulting firm, Hill Information Consulting Group. She enjoys exploring the potential of new and emerging technologies to connect people, content, and knowledge.

Barbara McFadden Allen is the Director of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) – a consortium of 12 research universities including the members of the Big Ten Athletic Conference and the University of Chicago. As Director, she leads inter-university cooperative efforts in shared course development and delivery; higher education leadership; high bandwidth networking; high technology applications and research; international programs; recruitment of a diverse graduate student population; library and information services; coordinated purchasing; and higher education policy. Her research interests are collaboration in higher education to improve quality, technologies for library and information applications and services, electronic information resources, and intellectual property. She has published, lectured, and consulted widely in these areas, including consultancies for the British Library, the National Library of Finland, and the state libraries of Missouri, Virginia, and Oregon. Marianne Steadley is the Director of Continuing Professional Development Programs at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Tom Peters is the founder and CEO of TAP Information Services (www.tapinformation.com), which provides a wide variety of services supporting libraries, library-related organizations, government agencies, technology companies, publishers, and other groups and organizations. Tom has worked previously at the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC, the academic consortium of the Big Ten universities and the University of Chicago), WesternIllinoisUniversity in Macomb, NorthernIllinoisUniversity in DeKalb, Minnesota State University at Mankato, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Tom did his undergraduate work at GrinnellCollege, where he majored in English and philosophy. He earned his library science degree at the University of Iowa. His second master’s degree (in English) was completed at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. His library experience in cludes reference service, library instruction, collection management, and administration. His current interests include downloadable digital audio book services, mobile libraries, ebooks, library services in virtual worlds, and online programming using web conferencing software. Patricia Alderman has been a federal librarian for over 20 years, She has been the Systems Librarian at the National Defense University Library in Washington, DC since 2003. Prior to that, she was the Electronic Resources Librarian at NDU from 1999-2003. Previous assignments include Acquisitions Librarian, US Army Community and Family Support Center, Alexandria, VA (1997-1999), Librarian at various post libraries (Ft Myer, Ft Ord, and Ft Story (1982-1997) and cataloger at US Army Transportation School Library, Ft Eustis (1981-82). Alderman received her BS degree, with a major in English and History from Radford College, Radford, VA. She also has a Masters of Librarianship from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA and a Masters of Business Administration from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. She is a member of both ALA (1980-present) and SLA (1981-present). She is currently a Director at Large of the Military Libraries Division. She is also a member of the Fedlink Advisory Committee.

Nancy Faget holds a BS in Marketing and MLIS from Louisiana State University where she was inducted into Beta Phi Mu in 1999. Her work experience includes being an intern at a Walt Disney library, reference librarian in a community college library, an intern for the Department of the Army, an Electronic Services librarian at the Army Corps of Engineers, and a program planning specialist for a national network of over 1,000 libraries at the US Government Printing Office. In her work for ALA Federal and Armed Forces Libraries Roundtable, Nancy is planning the 4th Annual "Careers in Federal Libraries" event for the ALA 2010 Annual conference to educate job seekers about federal jobs. Her publications include "A Day in the Life: Career Options in Library and Information Science". In her work for the FLICC Education working group, she continues to expand activities and reach out to library schools. Roy Jones is the manager of the Library & Resource Center at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Roy was formerly library director at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria and at the Medical Library of the USAF Wilford Hall Hospital at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas.

Peg Burnette plays a dual role at the Library of the Health Sciences-Peoria. As assistant to the Health Sciences Librarian-Peoria and head of Information Services, Peg provides reference, research assistance, and instruction to faculty, residents, medical students, and graduate nursing students. Formal and informal instruction and outreach are delivered to the medical community as well as the community at large. In addition, Peg serves as the LHS-Peoria technology coordinator and Webmaster. Mobile technology and mobile applications are important components of the services that the library provides and include Web content, displays, seminars, small group or individual instruction, and curriculum integrated instruction for medical students, residents and graduate nursing students.

Elisa Topper is Director of Staffing Services in the Library Associates recently opened Chicago office, and is responsible for a new corporate venture in Chicago with the DuPage Library System (DLS) head office. Elisa has over 30 years of professional librarianship with experience in special, public and university libraries as well as a national position at the American Library Association and serving as Assistant Dean at the Graduate Library School at Dominican University. Prior to coming to LAC, she held the position of Director at the Dundee Public Library. In 2003, Elisa created and was the sole contributor for “Working Knowledge” a monthly workplace column in the American Library Association’s magazine, American Libraries. In 2006, she left this column to take over “What’s New in Libraries” in the UK’s journal, New World Libraries. Currently, she is authoring the “Need to Know” column on LibGig, a division of LAC. In 2003, Elisa was named by Library Journal as one of 50 “Movers and Shakers” for her recruitment efforts in the library field. Ms. Topper received her BA in American Studies from the University of South Florida, her MLS from Florida State University and a Master’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago in Industrial Relations/Personnel. *Elisa's "Top 10 Tips for the Job Search" podcast is featured on ALA's Get a Job website.

Rose Chenoweth, Library Development Consultant, Alliance Library System, works with all types of libraries. She has worked in administration of public libraries most of her career and now moonlights teaching online for two universities.

Sonja Plummer-Morgan is a rural public library director in northern Maine and a graduate from the University of South Carolina with an MLIS. She currently serves as the Maine Library Association President and is VP/Pres Elect for the Association for Rural & Small Libraries.
